At Mountain Star, the floor plan is superior to neighbouring Arrowhead Point and most of the townhomes in Painted Cliff. Arrowhead Point and the majority (but not all) of Painted Cliff townhouses have a neighbour above or below you.
Mountain Star is close enough to walk to the ski access to Merlin’s Run on Blackcomb Mountain. There is a great ski-in trail which arrives into the north-end of the development. Buyers typically pay a little less for this location. Be careful when you are purchasing in Mountain Star as some units have a great storage room which is sometimes listed as a bedroom…it is not a bedroom, it is a storage room.

Location of Mountain Star on Blackcomb Mountain and proximity of the ski-lifts and Whistler Village:
Mountain Star is predominantly an excellent winter rental. Summer rentals typically happen in Whistler Village and at a rate under $100. They are also for shorter time periods. It takes a lot to rent out your property for two nights at $100/night. Not much revenue in that equation.
There are very few reasons why anyone would rent a Mountain Star unit in the Summer except if they needed a 3 bedroom property and there was nothing available closer to the Village. In addition, there is no swimming pool, and it is not a walk to the Village or Base of Blackcomb location. Getting a bike back up Painted Cliff Road to Mountain Star is also not a great summer activity.
You will make your revenue here during the ski season…as long as you don’t decide that you want to stay at your property when everyone else does.

There is a ski-in trail at the north end of the development, and this is one option to getting home. To ski-out onto Blackcomb Mountain, there is a short walk down the Mountain Star drive-way (which is on an incline) to Painted Cliff Road. From there, you either cross the road, or follow the side-walk around to the entrance of the ski-out trail. This trail runs parallel with the Painted Cliff Road complex. Some people walk back to Mountain Star using this ski-out trail, as it is not steep at all.

There is a free, village bus service which has a route through the Benchlands. This service runs about 8 times an hour in winter and just slightly less the rest of the year.
