Greystone Lodge, 4905 Spearhead Place, Whistler, BC
The Greystone Lodge, 4905 Spearhead Place, Whistler, BC, is tucked away off Spearhead Drive, in a quiet location. The walk to the slopes is longer than the access from the Woodrun or the Aspens, but lots of people ski-in to, and ski-out from the Greystone.
Several of the condos have a “lock-off” which means that for some of the 2 bedroom and 2 bedroom & loft units, there are two doors to the communal hallway. The configuration of these units have a door to the one bedroom suite including living room, kitchen, bathroom. There is an adjoining door to a second bedroom and bathroom which also has a door to the hallway. The benefit of this layout was that you are able to rent out one side while using the other side for yourself.
However, when I spoke with the on-site rental manager, he told me that the sound proofing lacks. Therefore, a paying guest would not be satisfied with the soundproofing within the unit. I would suggest that it is not impossible to rent out the lock-off. However, you would need to be aware of the potential customer service complaint that could come down.

The Lodge has a lot going for it. It is one of Whistler’s smallest, condo properties which is zoned for nightly rentals. This property, like the Woodrun is located far enough away from Spearhead Drive, that you shouldn’t hear any traffic noise. If you are looking for a property in the Benchlands which gets a lot of sunlight, then consider the Greystone. Some of the condos which are slope side have great mountain views.
There is a communal laundry room on the first floor. I have seen condos in the Greystone with a washer/dryer, but it is not a given that you will be able to add a washer/dryer to your unit. Built in 1989, the property has 1, 2 and 2 bedroom and loft suites. Please note, some listing agents will post a 2 bedroom and loft as a 3 bedroom, when it is still a 2 bedroom and loft. There are 51 condo units and the building is zoned for nightly rental, if you want to choose that option.

The front desk at the Greystone is staffed at selected times. It is operated by Acer Vacation Rentals. If you use another rental management company, the front desk will be of little use to your guests if they have any service issues, but then the front desk has to be open to provide any service at all. Like the Aspens, and the Woodrun Lodge and Greystone Lodge condos are ideal for generating revenue year round simply because of: the year-round swimming pool; the two, year-round hot tubs; the ski-in ski-out location (see ski-in ski-out access below); and the easy walk to the Village, in all four seasons.

There is a short walk or if the paths are covered in snow, you can easily travel between the Greystone Lodge and the Wizard run. The ski-slope leads down to the new ten passenger gondola which in 2018 replaced the Wizard Express and Solar Coaster chairs. The Blackcomb Mountain world-class groomers do a great job of moving snow around on these lower slopes. This means that the properties located on Blackcomb Mountain remain a true ski-in and ski-out even if the snow has started to disappear from the lower slopes in Spring. Table of Contents.

Highlights of The Greystone Lodge Strata
- I have seen condos in the Greystone with a washer/dryer, but it is not a given that you will be able to add a washer/dryer to your unit. This is something you would have to get strata approval for.
- Strata Council must be notified of any long-term rentals.
- One dog, or one cat is allowed for owners.
- There was a Depreciation Report completed in July 2014.
Storage at The Greystone Lodge
Each condo has an in-suite storage locker, which is really a small closet which has a lock installed, and the owner would keep the key. The kitchen is typically a decent size so if the owner wanted to take a kitchen cupboard and add a lock to it, it would serve as another storage space within the condo.
Greystone Lodge has a room on the 1st floor which contains a locker for each condo and provides easy access to the path that leads along to the slopes. This is principally for the use of guests, or for owners who do not rent out their condo. When the owners are renting out their condo, they would move their equipment to the owners’ lockers.
The strata created a secured area and built a storage locker for each condo. Each locker is roughly 4 ft. wide x 7 ft. deep and 7 ft. high. Certainly large enough to hold an expensive bike.
There is secured room which has been designated for bike storage. All owners have access to this bike room. However, the bike room seemed a lot more secure than the typical cage in the parking lot. Typically the strata requests that the owners bikes are removed at the start of the ski season. Bikes are not encouraged to be stored in the condos because of the potential damage to the hallways. Parking at Greystone Lodge
There is gated, underground parking at the Greystone. Typically there is one parking stall per one bedroom condo. The parking is unassigned. Parking information is provided when the Form B is ordered by the listing agent.
The location of the Aspens is an easy walk to the Base of Blackcomb and from there to Whistler Village. There is a free, village bus service which has a route through the Benchlands. This service runs about 8 times an hour in winter and just slightly less the rest of the year.
