The Heights at Taluswood, 2324 Taluswood Place, Whistler, BC.  You will either love Taluswood, or you will find it too remote, or at least that is my experience with any buyers I have worked with over the past 12 years. Either way, you will certainly appreciate the design and layout of the half-duplexes and the convenience of the double car garage.

This is the sort of location where you can really relax and be far away from the hordes in Whistler village…the number of people in Whistler Village and on the highway is growing each year. They are all aiming for Whistler Village.

The Taluswood location is very peaceful, and one of the few places where you only hear the sounds of nature without the sound of traffic. Make sure you explore the Taluswood area before you rule it out. You may be pleasantly surprised. – Marion.

About The Heights

This is a secluded enclave of duplex/townhouses and two chalets, in a very quiet setting up at the top of Nordic Drive.  Large, spacious properties each with a private double garage, a private hot tub and large decks to enjoy the panoramic views, or private treed setting.  This is a true ski in ski out location.

People either love or do not love the Taluswood location. This is a very quiet, almost remote location.  When it comes to views, you might get a beautiful vista to the south, but you may also find yourself surrounded with fir trees and very little view, except from the top floor.  There are a lot of positives about the Taluswood location.   It is ideal if you want to get away from the noise and bustle of the Village and people in general.  If you want to be in a relaxing, environment where you cannot hear the traffic, and you want an upscale townhouse, then one of these in the Heights or neighbouring Lookout, would be a great choiceTable of contents.

Revenue and Nightly Rates in The Heights

The Heights is predominantly a winter rental.  There is less reason to rent in the Heights in the Summer. The location so far away from the Village or the Valley Trail are a deterrent for anything other than winter rentals.

The Fitzsimmons Creek townhouses within an easy walking distance to the village are of a similar quality and size, and Montebello is another 3 bedroom rental option. You will make your revenue here during the ski season…as long as you don’t decide that you want to stay at your property when everyone else does.

You can use any rental management company you wish, or you can self-manage your townhouse, if you have the motivation. Ski-in/Ski-out Access for The Heights

Depending on where you own in Taluswood, will determine how close you are to the ski in and ski out trails.  When you have a look at the Google Map (see table of contents) you should be able to view the ski-in ski-out trails. The ski home access trail off Whistler Mountain which services the Lookout, also service the Heights, as they are in the same area of Taluswood. The ski-out trail on to Whistler Mountain for the Heights is at the entrance to the Heights at the first house. This trail comes out beside the entrance to Fairmont At Nature’s Door development.  Table of contents.

Strata Fees in The Heights

This is typical of what the strata fees cover in the  Ridge and the Lookout both of which are in Taluswood. Strata fees include:

  • chimney cleaning
  • fire system maintenance
  • garbage removal
  • hydro
  • insurance and appraisal
  • landscape maintenance and irrigation
  • snow removal – manual and mechanical
  • window cleaning trail grooming

In 2018 it looks as those the roof reserve fund and the restaining reserve contributions are building nicely. There is also mention of landscape improvements. The Heights Bylaws as of October, 2013. It is important to read the latest bylaws when you make an offer.

Parking in The Heights

Each duplex/townhouse has a double car garage, but there is not a lot of room on the parking pad outside the garage as it is too short. There are a few visitor parking spots.  There is no parking on the roadway at the Heights. The roadway is a fire lane, and cannot be used for overflow parking. Cars will be towed. Table of contents.

Transit Bus Service For The Heights

There is no bus service up to Taluswood, so you will be depending on your car, or taxi. Taluswood is too high up Whistler Mountain to walk down the mountain or down Nordic Drive to catch the bus…you just wouldn’t do it regularly. The bus service does run along Eva Lake Road in the Nordic neighbourhood, but it really is too far to walk to from Taluswood.  I have clients who say they could ride a bike up ordic Drive to Taluswood, and I expect they could…but unless you have recently trained for the Grande Fondo, I would just take a cab or drive.
